David began his academic pursuits with a focus on Oceanography at Bangor University, culminating in a full-scholarship PhD jointly funded by Bangor University and the National Oceanography Centre.

Transitioning seamlessly into the industrial sphere post-PhD, David joined HR Wallingford, a leading Engineering Consultancy. There, he held various roles, including Principal Scientist, Business Development Manager, and Group Manager for Europe’s largest physical modelling facilities. His diverse portfolio encompassed projects spanning port & harbour design, offshore wind, bridge design, SuDS, coastal erosion, and assessing the impacts of tsunamis and unexploded World War II ordinance. David’s tenure was marked by transformative initiatives, including staff development, revenue diversification, and technological advancements, enhancing the efficacy of physical modelling facilities. In parallel, David pursued professional certifications such as APM PMQ, IOSH, and others, complementing his academic contributions with lecturing engagements at multiple universities and active involvement in research endeavours.

Seeking new challenges, David transitioned to Newton Europe as a Business Partner, further honing his expertise in Operations within the dynamic landscape of a rapidly growing Management Consultancy.
