Recognising sustained leadership in materials science and clean technologies
Nanolyse is pleased to share that Dr Imad Ahmed, Chairman of Nanolyse Technologies, has been elected a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM).
Fellowship is the highest professional grade awarded by IOM3 and recognises individuals who have made a sustained and influential contribution to the materials, minerals and mining professions. It reflects not only technical expertise, but long-term leadership and service to the wider materials community.
For Imad, this recognition reflects over fifteen years of work at the intersection of materials characterisation, nanomaterials and clean technologies, with a consistent focus on application, reliability and impact in real operational environments.
Materials science as an enabler, not an end
Throughout his career, Imad has approached materials science as a means to solve practical problems — particularly in water quality, environmental monitoring and industrial decision-making. At Nanolyse, this perspective has shaped the development of technologies that depend on careful materials selection and characterisation to deliver robust, field-ready performance.
His contribution has been less about advancing materials in isolation and more about ensuring they are deployed responsibly, with a clear understanding of how they behave in complex, real-world systems. This mindset continues to influence how Nanolyse designs, tests and scales its technologies.
About the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining
IOM3 is a leading global professional body for materials, minerals and mining professionals, with members working across industry, research and policy. Fellowship is awarded to those who have demonstrated sustained professional excellence and a meaningful contribution to the advancement of the materials disciplines.
Looking ahead
Imad has emphasised that this Fellowship reflects the support of colleagues, collaborators and mentors across industry and research, as well as the value of being part of a professional community committed to high standards and public benefit.
At Nanolyse, we see this recognition as closely aligned with our belief that strong materials science underpins credible, scalable clean technologies. We congratulate Imad on this achievement and look forward to continuing that work together. 👏🎉
